England

QUALIFICATION

England achieved the participation already by winning the pool matches of the qualifying tournament in April 2006. After a 1:3 defeat against the later tournament winner New Zealand they took their revenge for the only defeat in the pool matches winning against Pakistan 3:1 to get the third place.

COACH

Jason Lee became head coach in October 2004 strengthening his position with the good result at the qualifier. Only one month earlier in Melbourne at the Commonwealth Games Enlgand lost the game for the bronce medal against Malaysia 0:2. After the bad result at the 2005 European Championship in Leipzig when England had to struggle against relegation loosing 2:4 to Scotland there was a lot of criticism from the press.

Lee played 25 international cups for Great Britain, 62 times for England. He was member of the 1992 and 1996 Olympic team as well as the 1998 World Cup.
